Dear editor,

The Vicksburg Post is to be commended for its editorial encouraging readers to be financially responsible, including using a spending plan and increase savings. A little known resource to accomplish these excellent New Year’s goals is through the MSU Warren County Extension Service. Money Mentors are a group of dedicated volunteers, trained by MSU Extension professors, providing one-on-one money coaching, as well as money management classes for organizations and businesses. Many money management publications are also available at the office, including simple budget directions, controlling spending, saving, investing, and estate planning. Online resources include msucares.com/frm, www.extension.org/personal_finance, and Powerpay.org, an easy program to track spending, saving, and debt payment).
All assistance is at no charge, and is available through the local office, located at 1100 C Grove Street, adjacent to the Motor Vehicle office, or by calling 601-636-5442.
