An agent from the Mississippi Gaming Commission has died after being accidentally shot during a training exercise in Tunica.
The officer, whose identity has not been released, died after he was shot at about 9 a.m. Wednesday, said Allen Godfrey, executive director of the state gaming commission.
“It was during some sort of training exercise,” Godfrey said.
Godfrey would not say if the agent was based in Vicksburg.
The commission is headquartered in Jackson and has offices in Tunica, Vicksburg and Biloxi that monitor gaming at the state’s 34 casinos. The Vicksburg office is at 4211 Rifle Range Road. There are 66 agents statewide.
