Delmar C. Guimbellot

Delmar C. Guimbellot died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at Patients Choice in Port Gibson. He was 79.
Born to Lance Guimbellot and Mary Brownell Guimbellot on March 29, 1935, in Winnsboro, La., he had lived in Utica for the past 40 years. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War, and was a member of the Local 619 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union.
Survivors include his wife, Mavis Flowers Guimbellot of Utica; son, Blanine Guimbellot of Tallulah; daughters, Lisa Shaw of Texas and Tracy Romo of Utica; sister, Ruth Fraizer of Kosciusko; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Mary L. Hicks
Mary L. Hicks of Vicksburg died Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at River Region Medical Center. She was 90.
She was retired as a cook at Halls Ferry Elementary School, and as a custodian in the McRae’s department store. After her retirement, she went back to her first love of cooking and baking cakes, and some of her recipes were included in her church’ s recipes cookbook. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Mary Nelson Ford; husband, Julius Hicks Sr.; daughter, Barbara Jean Hicks; three brothers; Wilbert Lee Ford, Andrew Ford and Louis Ford, three sisters, Alberta Murrell Ford, Beatrice Ethel Ford and Carrie Vivian Ford; and a half-sister, Minnie Pearl.
Survivors include three sons, Julius Hicks Jr., Ronald Hicks and Dennis Hicks, all of Vicksburg; daughter, Francis Louise Washington of Montgomery, Ala.; brother, George Herbert Ford Sr. of Vicksburg; sister, Barbara Jean Jackson of Aurora, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends and relatives.
