Two Louisiana brothers wanted in connection with an attempted murder this week in Vicksburg were on the lam Friday.
An attempted murder warrant was issued for Christopher Coleman, and aggravated assault warrants were issued for him and his brother, Shannador Coleman, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.
The brothers and three other men who have not been identified were involved in striking 25-year-old Willie Carter Jr. and Carter’s 14-year-old nephew with a pistol Wednesday at Whispering Woods Apartments, 780 U.S. 61 North, Williams said. The apartments were previously known as Confederate Ridge.
“Before they pistol-whipped these two, he fired the weapon and it misfired,” Williams said of Christopher Coleman’s attempted murder charge.
Carter and his teen nephew were taken to River Region medical Center where they were treated and released, Williams said.
The beating that left carter with deep lacerations on his forehead and temple, started over a domestic dispute with Carter’s sister, Williams said. The five men including the Coleman brothers fled to Louisiana where they were pursued by the Delta Marshal’s Office, she said.
The vehicle wrecked, and all five men fled on foot and had not been captured as of Friday, Williams said.
The beating and attempted murder is under investigation, and additional warrants could be issued Williams said.
Anyone with information about the Coleman brothers is encouraged to call Vicksburg police at 601-636-2511 or Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers at 601-355-8477. Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of a felony suspect.
Callers to Crime Stoppers remain anonymous and do not have to testify in court.
