Man shot at First North and Grove

A Vicksburg man was shot in the leg Thursday, and police were sorting out the details Friday and moving toward charging a suspect.

Tyrone Appleton, 20, 1314 Spring St., was shot in the leg during an altercation near First North and Grove streets, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

Appleton returned to his residence on Spring Street where he called police, she said. He was taken to River Region Medical Center where he was treated and released.

Police were questioning several people about the shooting Friday.

“The investigators are currently working on trying to determine the motive of the shooting,” Williams said.

 

Accused burglar free on bail

A Vicksburg man accused of breaking into drainage supply company was free on bail Friday.

Ethan Frazier, 21, 5220 U.S. 61 South, was arrested Wednesday and charged with commercial burglary, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said. Frazier posted $10,000 bail Thursday and was released from the Warren County jail.

Frazier is accused of breaking into Advanced Drainage Systems, 5695 U.S. 61 South, in December, Williams said.
