Ora Augusta “Pat” Pickett

Mrs. Ora Augusta “Pat” Pickett died Saturday Jan. 31, 2015 at University Medical Center in Jackson.
Mrs. Pickett was born July 11,1939 to the late Herman and Laudee Williams. She recieved her education in the Hermanville School.
She worked for 32 years for the Illinois Central Railroad as a telegrapher, depot agent, ticket agent, secretary to the general foreman in the roundhouse and customer service Agent.
She was a former member of Hermanville Baptist Church and Port Gibson United Methodist Church and is a current member of Trinity Baptist Church of Vicksburg. She was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post 2572 and the Military order of the Cooties. She was also the director of First Methodist Protestant Day Care and Porters Chapel Academy Day Care.
In addition to her parents she was preceeded in death by her husband of 55 years Melvin Clinton Pickett, Jr., her brothers Charles Joe Williams and Taylor Cline Williams and a sister Nancy Williams Cantrelle .
She is survived her Son Melvin Clinton Pickett, III of Clinton; four daughters Charlotte Miller, Melva Powers, Ellen Yates all of Vicksburg and Glenda Thornton of Hermanville; three sisters Jane Townsend of Centerville, Miss., Alice Higbee of Madison and Debbie Davis of Lorman; two brothers Herman Williams, Jr of Leon, Iowa and Robert Douglas Williams of Hermanville, Miss.; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015 at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and 10 a.m. until the hour of the service Tuesday. Burial will follow at Hermanville, Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Josh Sellers, Michael Pickett, Isaac Pickett, Zan Pickett, Jake Carraway, and Adam Powers.
