David G. Toler

David G. Toler, 88, of Vicksburg, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at his home.

David retired from the Mississippi Department of Corrections. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Affairs, Long Lake Club, National Rifle Association and NRA Golden Eagles. His name is at the National World War II Museum in New Orleans.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Toler of Vicksburg; two sons, Owen Meredith of Monroe, La., and David G. of Texas; stepson, Cranford Upton of Vicksburg; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Toler; stepfather, J.L. Hudgins; and mother, Eula Mae Toler Hudgins.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home in Vicksburg, with the Rev. Scott Reiber officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Clyde Smith Jr., Carlos Smith and James Jennings, all of Laurel, and Chuck Thornton and John Dolan, both of Vicksburg.
