Dorothy Mae Johnson died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at River Region Medical Center. She was 76.
Mrs. Johnson was born on Feb. 10, 1938, in Vicksburg to Notton and Rosie Lee Jones, and was a lifelong member of Pleasant Valley MB Church, where she was an usher and member of the Mother Board.
She worked for Sears for 35 years and for Fred’s Dollar Store for 15 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Notton and Rosie Lee Jones; one brother, Booker T. Wells; granddaughter, Naeasea Johnson; and a great-grandson, De’Onta Myles.
Survivors include her husband, Elijah Johnson Sr. of Vicksburg; three sons, Elijah Johnson Jr., Kenneth Johnson and Calvin Johnson, all of Vicksburg; two daughters, Zanetta “Rena” Williams and Dorothy “DaDa” Johnson, both of Vicksburg; one brother, Notton Jones Jr. of South Carolina; two sisters, Mary Williams of Gary, Ind., and Gladys Sanders of Arlington, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Services will be noon Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church, 2585 N. Washington St., with the Rev. E. E. Gibbs officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
