Daven Anderson Murphy

Daven Anderson Murphy was born on Feb. 5, 1978, in Vicksburg to the late Otha “Buck” Murphy and Zelmarine Anderson Murphy.
On Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, at River Region Medical Center, Mr. Murphy transitioned, surrounded by his family.
He was a product of the Vicksburg Warren School District. He began his educational pursuits at Halls Ferry Elementary School and exited the District as a 1996 graduate of Warren Central High School. He furthered his education at Hinds Community College. Following the family tradition, he applied and was accepted to Alcorn State University, where he would become an ASU BRAVE!!
Mr. Murphy is a sixth-generation family member to attend Triumphant Baptist Church. He was baptized in August 1987 and was actively involved in the church’s youth activities.
He was preceded in death by his father, Otha “Buck” Murphy; his maternal grandparents, Zellner and Hazel Brown Anderson; paternal grandparents, Otha and Annie Mims Murphy; and his aunt, Patricia Anderson Segrest.
Survivors include his loving mother, Mrs. Zelmarine Anderson Murphy; his brothers, Otha Zellner Murphy and Starling Murvette Murphy; twin nephews, Aron Taylor Murphy and Ashton Tyler Murphy all of Vicksburg; a great-aunt, Dena Anderson Dickerson of Cleveland, Ohio; cousins, Pamela E. Segrest of Memphis, Tennessee, William Nelson Clark of University City, Mo.; descendants of the Anderson, Murphy, Davenport, Maxwell, Brown, Slaughter, Taylor, Slater, Brooks, Carson, Johnson, Blue, Young families as well as other relatives and friends.
Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015, at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in the Kings community with the Rev. Dexter Jones officiating. The Rev. Byron Maxwell will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation is today, Feb. 7, 2015, at the funeral home from 1 to 7 p.m. with family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
