Betty Joyce Hough Davis

Betty Joyce Hough Davis left to be with the Lord on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015.
Joyce was born in Shreveport, La., resided in Bossier City, La., for 50 years and in Vicksburg, the remainder of her life. She was 78.
A graveside service was held Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Haughton, La.
Joyce leaves behind her daughter Deborah Cherie Davis Kilgo (Larry); three granddaughters, Melissa Joy Kilgo Reger, Jena Cherie Kilgo Soltys (Doug) and Kaylee Grace Kilgo; three great-granddaughters, Ann Cherie Reger, Maggie Reger and Laura Reger; and two sisters, Joan Hough Harrington Tomlinson and Lela Jean Hough Furgason.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Charles Travis Davis of Vicksburg; her son, Charles Travis Davis Jr. “Chaz”; her parents, Clinton Emmett and Thelma Sparkman Hough of Claiborne Parish, La.; fraternal grandparents, Walter Eugene Hough and Lela Ava Adams Hough of Claiborne Parish; and her maternal grandparents, Julia Sedberry Sparkman and Thomas Harvey Sparkman of Arkansas.
Joyce was a proud member of the John Birch Society, and the Louisiana and Mississippi Retired Teachers Associations. Her greatest joy was teaching her students to respect and love the United States of America, the greatest Christian nation and constitutional republic in the world. She is a descendant of the American colonist. Her ancestors fought in the American Revolution, and the War Between the States. Her DNA has been southern since the 1600s.
