A Tallulah, La., man believed to have been driving the vehicle a murder suspect retrieved a gun from before a fatal shooting outside a Vicksburg night club was held without bail Friday.
Troy Alexander, 28, 703 Jones St., Tallulah, was arrested Wednesday in Madison Parish and returned to Vicksburg Thursday to face drug charges, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.
Alexander has been charged with possession of oxycodone and possession of cocaine, Williams said.
The drugs were found in a vehicle from which Kentrell Williams, 22, 113 Pecan St., Tallulah, retrieved a gun and shot Jimmy Johnson, 32 also of Tallulah, shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday in front of LD’s on Mulberry Street, Capt. Williams said. Capt. Williams is not related to Kentrell Williams.
“We believe that Alexander was the driver of the vehicle,” she said.
Police were on scene when Kentrell Williams opened fire, Chief Walter Armstrong said.
A witness near the shooting reported hearing three gunshots at about 2:05 a.m. Sunday.
Kentrell Williams and two other men were in the vehicle with Alexander when they arrived in Vicksburg, Capt. Williams said. Alexander could face additional charges, and other arrests are possible, she said.
“Of course the case is under investigation,” Capt. Williams said.
Alexander appeared Friday in Vicksburg Municipal Court where he was denied bail.
Kentrell Williams, who was charged with murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a stolen firearm, was being held Friday in lieu of $2.5 million bail
He is also being held for the Louisiana Department of Corrections for a probation violation. He was convicted in April 2014 of illegal use of a weapon or dangerous instrument. Kentrell Williams is also at the center of an open investigation in Tallulah, but Madison Parish officials have declined to comment.
