A Warren County fugitive and his girlfriend were held without bail after he led officers on a chase through ice and snow Wednesday, Sheriff Martin Pace said.
Jeffrey Luckett, 49, ran from a home 1655 U.S. 80 Wednesday as deputies were trying to serve a warrant for a drug court violation.
“We along with drug court probation officers had been looking for him for some time,” Pace said.
Deputies and a Vicksburg canine officer chased Luckett though a wooded area before he was captured.
“After they chased him though the woods, he wanted to start kicking and fighting,” Pace said.
Luckett was held without bail for drug court and is charged with simple assault of a law enforcement officer.
Luckett had been staying with his girlfriend, Melissa Shiers Holman, 35, at the home on U.S 80, and Holman was charged with harboring a fugitive.
Deputies had interviewed Holman in the search for Luckett, Pace said.
“She was well aware that there was a warrant for his arrest,” he said.
Holman was also held without bail Thursday in the Warren County jail awaiting an initial court appearance.
