HERNANDO — Robert Woodrow Stevenson Jr., age 73, died unexpectedly at his home in Hernando Saturday March 7, 2015.

He was born July 13, 1941, in Curtis, Ark. Mr. Stevenson graduated from Arkadelphia High School and attended the University of Arkansas, where he played football. He received a bachelor’s degree from Henderson State University, and retired from the U.S. Secret Service with 35 years of distinguished and meritorious service.

Mr. Stevenson was an ordained deacon and was most recently a member of Longview Point Baptist Church in Hernando. He was a partner and co-owner of Stevenson Family Farms in Clark County, Ark.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Anice Hurst Stevenson; three sons, Thomas Hurst Stevenson (Jojie) of Yokum, Texas, William Clark Stevenson (Kelly) and Jon David Stevenson (Ashley) both of Olive Branch; nine grandchildren, Robert IV, John, Billy Stevenson-Flinter and Matthew Flinter, all of Maryland, Brice, Mary, Jack, Adam and Samuel Stevenson, all of Olive Branch; sister, Sara Stevenson Abraham (Freddy) of Vicksburg; brother, Steven O. Stevenson of Glen Rose, Texas; aunts, Joyce T. Stiffler and Iris Toombs, both of Gurdon, Ark., Mary Ann T. Newton of Curtis, Ark., Annette T. Dunn and Ruth Barham of Dallas; uncle Ira B. Thomas Jr. of Curtis, Ark.; and a niece, Angela Abraham Ladner (Mark) of Jackson.

Mr. Stevenson was predeceased by his parents, Judge R.W. Stevenson St. and Marjorie Thomas Stevenson; son, Lt. Robert Stevenson III; and his niece, Julie Jabour Abraham.

Visitation is Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Hernando Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m.

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Longview Baptist church followed by burial at the historic Hart’s Chapel Cemetery with Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home of Arkadelphia, Ark. in charge.

His sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
