Jackson man held in counterfeit case

A Jackson man accused of passing counterfeit bills in Vicksburg was held without bail Wednesday.

James Thompson, 36, 1550 Wood Glen Drive, Jackson, was charged Friday with possession of counterfeit bank notes and conspiring to commit a crime, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

Thompson is accused of passing counterfeit bills July 31 at Walmart, Williams said.

He was taken into custody after police received a Crime Stoppers tip that he was incarcerated in the Hinds County Jail in an unrelated case.
