Juliet Canizaro Sanderson

Juliet Canizaro Sanderson

The world wept and all the angels rejoiced as they welcomed their newest member, Juliet Canizaro Sanderson, who was reunited with her first-born son, her sister and her parents on April 1, 2015.

We are certain the celebration included wine, margaritas and much laughter. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Keefer and staff at Mercy Health Center, Oklahoma City, for the excellent care she received during and after treatment, and also Dr. Steve Drabek and all the nursing staff at the Integris Hospice House, Oklahoma City, for the excellent end-of-life-care they provided, ensuring the entire family was involved every step.

She was born Oct. 6, 1937, in Vicksburg to Jack and Juliet Canizaro, the third of five children—”the Middle Child.” She was raised Catholic and she graduated from St. Francis Xavier High School in Vicksburg, and then married Sidney H. Sanderson Sept. 6, 1958.

They moved from Mississippi to Colorado, then back to Mississippi then to Arkansas while Sidney was in the Air Force. After Sidney left the Air Force, they moved to Dodge City, Kansas, in 1968, then on to Louisiana in 1976, and finally settled in Oklahoma from 1986 until present.

Juliet was charismatic and made friends everywhere she lived. She was employed most of her adult life as a secretary but her true passion was that of a wife, a mother and finally as a grandmother. She and Sidney had three sons and one daughter, and five very precious grandchildren. She would always say the grandchildren were the light of her life. She enjoyed reading, bowling, visiting with friends and family, and most importantly spoiling her grandchildren.

Juliet was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Sid Jr.; and one sister, Josephine Head.

Survivors include her devoted and loving husband, Sidney Sanderson; son, Kevin and his wife Nanette Sanderson and their two children Dominic and Ana of Brandon, son, Terry Sanderson of Oklahoma City and daughter Danielle Hylton and her 3 children Harper, Faith and Graham of Mustang, Okla.

She is also survived by one brother, Jack Canizaro Jr. and wife Tonia of South Haven; sisters, Teresa and husband Ron Meder of Cincinnati and Lucy and husband AC Williams of Memphis, Tenn.; along with nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews and many, many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105, a charity Juliet had been a donor of for nearly 30 years.

There will be a visitation Tuesday April 7,2015, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Riles Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 11a.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at St. Paul Catholic Church with interment following at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery, under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.

Oklahoma arrangements were handled by McNeil’s Funeral Service of Mustang Okla.
