Walter C. Cade Sr.

PORT GIBSON — Walter C. Cade Sr., 95, passed away quietly at home on May 4, 2015.
A native and lifelong resident of Port Gibson, Mr. Cade attended Port Gibson High School and served with the Navy Seabees in South Pacific during World War II. He spent many years in the timber business, retiring as mill manager for V&B International. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed raising cattle on his farm. He was a member of Port Gibson United Methodist Church and Washington Lodge No. 3.
Survivors are his son, Walter Cade Jr. (Beth) of Port Gibson, stepson Ray Varnado (Marilyn) of Ridgeland and stepdaughter Jacki Flint (Foster) of Biloxi; and three grandchildren, Jordan Brown of New York, Samuel Varnado and Mark Varnado, both of Ridgeland.
Mr. Cade was preceded in death by his wife, LaRue Cade; wife, Edwina Cade; grandson Jeffery Barton Cade; parents, Robert and Lillie Cade; brothers, Robert Cade, James Cade, and Elvin Cade; and sisters, Martha Mae Crum and Olivia Cade.
Services were 11 a.m., today, May 6, 2015, at Port Gibson United Methodist Church with burial in Wintergreen Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Sam Varnado, Mark Varnado, Bryan Crum, John Cade, Richard Cade, Robert Cade, John L. Torrey and Charlie Donald. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. David Headley, Dr. E.G. Ellis, and Dr. Richard Russell and John Wheeless Jr.
