Funeral services for Garfield Wright Jr. will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Greater Grove Street M. B. Church with the Rev. Joe Moses officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Wright died Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Merit River Region Medical Center. He was 74.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and was a retired chef, having worked for Maxwell’s Restaurant and Toney’s Restaurant.  He was a member of the Calvary M. B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Garfield and Frances Dillon Wright Sr.; brothers, Stanley Wright and Arthur Wright; and a sister, Mary Jemerson.

Survivors include his wife, Claudia Taylor Wright of Vicksburg; son, Garfield Wright III of Vicksburg; two daughters, Patricia Taylor and LaDonna Tapplin, both of Las Vegas; brother, James Wright of Vicksburg; sisters, Margaret Singleton of Oak Park, Ill., Delores Hicks of Aurora, Ill., Patricia McDougal of Vicksburg and Betty Carter of Baton Rouge, La.; 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
