The Mississippi Braves are becoming specialists at winning one-run games these days.

Mallex Smith drove in the go-ahead run with an RBI single in the top of the 10th inning, and Mississippi beat Pensacola 3-2 on Sunday afternoon.

It was the fifth time in seven games that the M-Braves have played a contest decided by one run. They’ve won four of them.

This victory came after the Braves blew a 2-0 lead in the ninth inning. Pensacola tied it with an RBI single by Juan Silva and a sacrifice fly by Marquez Smith.

In the 10th, the Braves put runners on second and third with a walk, single and a wild pitch. Smith delivered his single to right field for the lead.

In the bottom of the 10th, reliever Tyler Jones struck out the side to give the M-Braves their ninth win in 12 games.

Smith and David Rohm had two hits apiece for Mississippi, which had 10 hits total but was just 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position.

The M-Braves and Blue Wahoos continue their series tonight at 6:35 in Pensacola, and are in the middle of a stretch of 10 out of 15 games against each other. They’ll play a five-game series in Pearl May 27-31.
