Charlie Sims

Funeral services for Charlie Sims will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015, at W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert L. Miller Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

SIMS

Mr. Sims died Saturday, June 20, 2015, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. He was 87.

He had been employed by the Vicksburg Chemical Plant, U. S. Rubber and the U.S. Army Corps Corps of Engineers MAT Sinking Unit. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War, and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Davis; mother, Hannah Sims Felton Wright; sons, Charles Lee Sims and Donald Marvin Sims; brother, George Ree Sims; and sister, Beatrice Sims Jones.

Survivors include his son, Billy Joe Sims Sr. of Vicksburg, seven daughters, Mary Clare Parrish of Fort Washington, Md., Patricia Anderson of Acworth, Ga., Abbey Webley of Madison, Retha Summers, Gayle Davis, Sherry Sims and Joyce Sims, all of Vicksburg; 23 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
