Kathryn C. ‘Boots’ Crosby

Kathryn C. “Boots” Crosby, 85, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Compere’s Nursing Home.
Miss Crosby was born May 22, 1930, in New Hebron, to the late Delta Crosby Sills and late Marion Crosby.
When Miss Crosby was 18 months of age, her mother, Delta, married Robert Sills, and they combined their children into one large happy family. They all played and worked hard on their farm in New Hebron.
She graduated from New Hebron High School, where she was a cheerleader and played basketball, and attended Mississippi College. Boots began a long career with Bell South Telephone, where she retired with 32 years of dedicated service.
After retirement, Miss Crosby lived happily at Eagle Lake in Vicksburg, and was a member of Eagle Lake Baptist Church. She later moved to Jackson to be with her family.
Miss Crosby was preceded in death by her father, Marion Crosby; her parents Delta and Robert Sills; sisters, Alice Ruth Latham and Grace Wallace; and brother James Sills. Others preceding her in death were her stepbrothers and stepsisters, Wallace Sills, Walter Sills, Patsy Himel, Maggie Holmes, Kay Hartman, Eula Murphy, Delma Simmons and Wilma Tyrone.
She is survived by her sisters, Nell Wallace of Mize, Bobbie Price of Natchez; her stepsister, Roberta Magee (Lloyd) of Pearl; sisters-in-law, Sybil Sills of New Hebron and Evelyn Sills of Prentiss; brother-in-law, Clarence Hartman of Regent, N.D.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A simple graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2015, at Cliburn Cemetery in New Hebron.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 28, 2015, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, MS, from 3 to 6 p.m.
