A Warren County man was in jail and a utility vehicle stolen from Cook Tractor was recovered Tuesday.
Rashad Jerome Neal, 20, who lists his address only as Cumberland Drive, was arrested Tuesday and charged with possession of stolen property in connection with a theft reported Monday from the tractor company at 680 U.S. 80, Sheriff Martin Pace said.
Detectives Stacy Rollison and Todd Dykes followed a tip the owner of the vehicle had received and recovered the 2014 Gravely four-wheel drive utility vehicle that was reported stolen at 7:15 a.m. Monday, Pace said.
“It was found at the north most deadend of Cumberland drive off U.S. 80, which is several miles east of Cook Tractor,” Pace said.
Owner Adam Cook arrived at the business at 7:15 a.m. Monday and noticed track marks in the grass before his father reported the vehicle stolen. Cook also noticed the fence was cut and other utility vehicles appeared to have been a target of the theft.
Cook said cameras on the property captured images of suspects leaving the business at 4:18 a.m.
Pace said the investigation into the theft is continuing and other arrests are possible. Charges against Neal could also be upgraded depending on the outcome of the investigation, Pace said.
Anyone with information about the theft or any other unsolved crime is encouraged to call Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers at 601-355-8477. Crimes Stoppers will pay a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of a felony suspect. Callers remain anonymous and do not have to testify in court.
“Crime Stoppers doesn’t want your name. They just want your information,” Pace said.
