A Vicksburg man accused of robbing a convenience store earlier this week had a burglary charge added Wednesday.
George Patterson III, 26, 1002 Howard St., was charged Wednesday with burglary after being charged Tuesday with strong-arm robbery, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.
In the burglary, Patterson is accused of stealing an air conditioner July 28 from Kiddie City Child Care Center, 1783 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Williams said.
Patterson was held Thursday in the Warren County Jail.
He was initially arrested 6:15 a.m. Tuesday while walking near the intersection of Cherry and Main streets and charged with robbery hours after he is accused of robbing the clerk at Kangaroo, 4888 U.S. 61 South, and stealing a small amount of cash, Williams said.
In the robbery, Patterson is accused of attacking the clerk and stealing cash after he came to the register to purchase a pack of gum.
The clerk was not injured in the scuffle, Williams said.
One held in vacuum theft
A Jackson woman who police said was caught on video after stealing a vacuum cleaner from a car at Riverwalk Casino has been charged with auto burglary.
A Crime Stoppers tip led to the identification of Lashundra Bass, 28, 404 Ware Ave., who was charged this week with auto burglary, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.
Bass, who is also facing burglary charges in Hinds County, was arrested there July 27, according to Hinds Count Jail records. She was brought to Vicksburg Municipal Court Tuesday for an initial court appearance before being returned to the Hinds County Jail, Williams said.
Her accused accomplice remained on the lam Thursday.
“We did get the second person identified and received information that she had fled to Dallas, Texas,” Williams said.
