BOVINA — A new one-stop-shop for feed, seed and hardware celebrated its grand opening Thursday.
Wildlife Co-op, 189 Tiffintown Road, has been open for almost two weeks, but Vicksburg-Warren County Chamber of Commerce officials held a ribbon-cutting there Thursday.
“I wish we could do this every day,” owner Josh Hinson said.
Hinson opened the store Aug. 1 in the former site of the Bovina Feed & Seed.
“It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while,” the 23-year-old Hinson said.
He has been working in agriculture for several years and began blending seeds mixtures, which he is selling at the store along with basic hardware, pet food, animal feed and a variety of hunting and fishing products.
“I’ve got a pretty good clientele I’ve built up. I’m always looking to add to it,” Hinson said.
The co-op is one of just a handful businesses in the unincorporated community nine miles east of Vicksburg.
“We are excited to have this business in Bovina,” District 1 Supervisor John Arnold said.
Chamber of Commerce officials agreed, saying they were glad to see businesses move into the area.
“This place for this community on this side of Vicksburg is really great,” said Elyce Curry, the membership and recruitment director for the Chamber.
Chamber of Commerce executive director Jane Flowers said she was especially proud to see a young business owner settling in.
“It’s tough, especially being a young entrepreneur, but American was built on young entrepreneurs,” she said.
Wildlife Co-op is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday though Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays and 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sundays. For more information, call 601-618-6242.
