Three people accused of a plot to smuggle drugs and cellphones into the Warren County Jail were held without bail Wednesday.

Three inmates and the sister of one of the inmates have been charged with conspiracy to possess contraband in a correctional facility, Sheriff Martin Pace said.

At 1 p.m. Monday, deputies arrested Tamishia Stowers, 35, 1419 Main St., who is accused of dropping off four cellphones, tobacco and a small amount of marijuana in a garbage can, Pace said.

Trusty inmate Cody Butts, 22, 1515 Redwood Road, was caught brining the items into the jail in a trashcan Monday, Pace said.

“In the bottom of the garbage, she left a small bag with the items in it,” he said.

The phones, tobacco and drugs were intended to be Stowers’ brother, Jamal Stowers, 27, 1611 Bodley St., and Donnell Judge, 35, 71 Mingos Road, he said.

“This is an ongoing problem with any correctional institution, whether you are talking about the largest prisons or the smallest jails,” Pace said.

Butts, Jamal Stowers, and Judge were all charged late Tuesday, he said.

Butts was initially held for a probation violation, as was Jamal Stowers. Judge was initially held for burglary and receiving stolen property.

Tamishia Stowers, who was also on probation, was also being held for the Mississippi Department of Corrections, Pace said.
