Woman in officer assault held for drug court

A Vicksburg woman accused of hitting a police officer in the face with a beer bottle early Monday was held without bail Wednesday for drug court.

Tashika Sanders, 26, 1701 Lane St., was held on a warrant for a drug court violation, according to Warren County Jail records.

Sanders was arrested shortly after 2 a.m. Monday and charged with assault of a police officer.

She is accused of hitting investigator Diawardrick Grover during a disruption at LDs, according to the arrest affidavit read Monday by Municipal Judge Toni Terrett.

Terrett set bail for Sanders at $25,000 in the assault case.

Sanders was sentenced to drug court in 2012 after being found guilty of violating nonadjudicated probation for embezzlement.

The officer who was injured was treated and released from Merit Health River Region medical Center.

Sanders was held awaiting a drug court revocation hearing, which had not been set Wednesday.

Additionally, Doris Stamps, 30, 7100 Old U.S. 80, Meridian, was held in the Warren County Jail for a drug court violation.
