A Vicksburg woman accused of murder in June was returned here to face charges Tuesday after nearly three months in jail in Louisiana.
Crystal Owens Lindsey, 32, 265 Red Oak Drive, appeared in Vicksburg Municipal Court Tuesday where Judge Toni Terrett set bail at $250,000, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.
Lindsey surrendered June 17 to authorities in Baton Rouge, the day after she and her husband are accused of killing 46-year-old Roy Brown in the front yard of a home on Court Street.
“Immediately after the shooting, she went to Baton Rouge. She knew there was a Crime Stoppers tip out on her and she turned herself in,” Williams said.
Lindsey remained in jail in Baton Rouge until a balance of delinquent fines was paid, Williams said. Her time on the fines ended Tuesday, and she was released to custody of Vicksburg police. She arrived in Vicksburg about 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Brown was fatally shot shortly before 6:30 a.m. June 16 in the yard of a home he had been staying in “from time to time,” at 1605 Court St., Williams said.
Warren County Corner Doug Huskey said Brown died of multiple gunshot wounds. Williams said he was shot in several areas of the body.
Brown was apparently in a domestic dispute with Crystal Lindsey when she called her husband, 58-year-old Harold Lindsey to the home on Court Street. Police have declined to say who fired the fatal shots. It was unclear if Crystal Lindsey was living with her husband or with Brown at the time of the shooting.
Before she surrender, Crystal Lindsey was last seen leaving the scene of the shooting with her husband.
Crystal Lindsey was held Wednesday in the Warren County Jail.
