Warren County deputies were questioning people Wednesday in an apparent homicide Tuesday night in a mobile home park off Oak Ridge Road.

“We are treating this as a homicide,” Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Warren County Deputy Coroner Kelda Bailess identified the victim as Alfred “Pete” Patton, 62. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death.

“We have interviewed a number of people and have detained someone for questioning,” Pace said. “No one has been formally charged. We’re not going to discuss who we’re interviewing.”

Patton appeared to have been dead for “several days,” Pace said. His body was found in his mobile home on Nebula drive about 5:50 p.m. Tuesday.

“Family members who had not heard from their father in several days came to check on him and found him deceased in the home,” Pace said.

Nebula Drive is a single block running south from Pineywoods Drive. Pineywoods Drive runs east from Oak Ridge Road north of its intersection with Tucker Road. There appeared to be no signs of forced entry into the home, Pace said.

The man’s identity was not released.

The homicide is the second reported in Warren County in 2015. None were reported in 2014.

Joseph Acuff Jr. was shot dead in a driveway of a home in the 600 block of Standard Hill Drive on Sept. 12. Tamares Dillon, 35, was arrested later that day and charged with second-degree murder two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The killing came a day after Richard May Jr. was shot and killed at Battlefield Inn, 4137 N. Frontage Road, in the Vicksburg city limits.

Additionally, five other homicides have been reported in Vicksburg.
