PCA can’t get past Warriors

Porters Chapel is trying to keep its morale up after losing 21-7 to Clinton Christian on Friday night.
PCA coach Wayne Lynch said it was a close game throughout, but the Eagles had two touchdowns called back because of penalties. Michael Brewer scored the Eagles’ lone touchdown while rushing for 40 yards off six carries.
The Eagles ended up with 218 rushing yards, with Leon Simms leading the team with 95 yards on seven carries. Patrick Minor recorded another 80 yards on eight carries.
Lynch planned to employ a two-quarterback system with Minor and Garrett Hutchins at receiver, but Hutchins was diagnosed with a concussion early in the game. Minor went 8-for-10 passing for 50 yards and one interception.
For the first time this season the Eagles didn’t allow more than 30 points in a game. Josh Hunt and Bailey McMillian led the team in tackles with seven and six, respectively.
Franklin Academy 40, SIA 34
Franklin Academy scored the go-ahead touchdown with 12 seconds left to upset two-time defending MAIS eight-man champ Sharkey-Issaquena Academy (4-2, 0-1 District 4-A). Austin Herraney threw two touchdown passes for SIA, and added 139 yards and two TDs on the ground. Cole Delaney scored three touchdowns.
Christian Collegiate 46, Tallulah Academy 38
Devan Roberts rushed for 326 yards and five touchdowns to lead Christian Collegiate (6-0) past Tallulah Academy (5-1) in a matchup of previously unbeaten teams MAIS eight-man teams.
Running back Ryan Hodge had 26 carries for 213 yards and three touchdowns for Tallulah, while Mason Todd ran for 98 yards and a touchdown.
Central Hinds 21, Manchester 7
Tanner Leggett ran for 134 yards and three touchdowns, and was 9-of-13 passing for 134 yards to lead Central Hinds (4-1, 1-0 District 3-AAA) to a win over Manchester Academy (0-6, 0-3).
Ben Moss Lauderdale had 14 tackles and Donnie Haley two sacks for Central Hinds, which held Manchester to 139 yards of offense and forced three turnovers.
