Margaret J. Franklin died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center. She was 93.

Mrs. Franklin was born Nov. 5, 1921, to the late Pinkie and Richard Johnson in Redwood.

She attended Katzenmeyer School in the Floweree Community, and was employed with Mercy Hospital of Vicksburg.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Franklin was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Franklin; sons, Harrison Minor Jr. and Thomas Minor; and sisters, Virginia Clay and Willie B. Reed.

Survivors include her daughters, Margaret E. Smith of Vicksburg, Dorothy Holmes of Detroit and Gail Ware of Texas; son, Perry Franklin of Vicksburg; brother, James Johnson of Detroit; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at Greater Grove Street Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Casey D. Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen MB Church Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
