One held for child neglect

A Warren County woman accused of not properly caring for her child was held without bail Friday.

Kyra L. Gardner, 27, 4290 Hwy 27, was arrested around 1p.m. Thursday and charged with felony child neglect, Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Garner’s 11-month-old child was taken to Merit Health River Region around 9:30 a.m. Thursday with multiple injuries including bruising to the head and neck and a broken leg, Pace said. The child was later transferred to University of Mississippi Medical Center, Pace said.

Warren County Sheriff’s Investigators Todd Dykes and Stacy Rollison are leading the ongoing investigation.

 

Two held in financial crimes

Two Louisiana sisters accused of financial crimes were held without bail Thursday.

Kayler McGowan, 27, and Bianca McGowan, 23, 63202 Stringer Road, Angie, La., were picked up Wednesday morning from River Bend Detention Center in Lake Providence, La. Each of the women were charged with one count of conspiracy to commit crime and one count of uttering forgery, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

The McGowan sisters are accused of cashing two checks in June at a Vicksburg bank and have been reportedly writing checks in Mississippi and Louisiana, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said. They were arrested in Louisiana for the same type of financial crimes, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

The women will appear in court Friday morning.

 

Five auto burglaries in hotel parking lot

An array of tools and personal items were missing Thursday following five auto burglaries reported Wednesday in Vicksburg.

From 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday five separate vehicles in the Quality Inn and Suites parking lot, 3332 Clay St., were reportedly burglarized, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

A smoke blower valued at $3,500 and a metal detector valued at $900 was reportedly stolen from a 2014 GMC Sierra truck, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said. A purse and its contents were reportedly stolen from a 2013 Hyundai Accent whose window was smashed in a forced entry, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said. A tool box valued at $200, a paint spray gun valued at $500 and a cast iron Dutch oven were reportedly stolen from a 2006 Chevrolet 1500, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said. A 2015 Dodge Ram and a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado were also reportedly burglarized, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

 

Items missing from a county street

Electronics and jewelry were missing Thursday from two burglaries over two days in Warren County.

A television, Xbox 360, book bags and a gold rope chain were reportedly stolen on Smith Road, according to Warren County sheriff’s records.

 

Lawn supplies missing from yard

Lawn supplies were missing Thursday from the yard of a home in Warren County.

At 6 p.m. Wednesday a weed eater and garden tiller were reportedly stolen from a yard on North Drive, according to Warren County sheriff’s records.
