From sports to community service to individuals investing in the community, Vicksburg has much to be proud of this past week.
Here’s a recap of some of the people and events deserving of praise.
• The St. Aloysius girl soccer team won the MAIS soccer championship.
• Chocolate Factory owners, Brady and TyAnn Ellis invest deeper into the community by purchasing Billy’s Italian Restaurant.
• The Southern Heritage Air Museum held the Warbird Formation Flying Clinic Saturday at the Vicksburg-Tallulah Regional Airport with visitors from across the country in attendance. The museum also hosted the Commemorative Air Force’s Rise Above Traveling Exhibit and film on the Tuskegee Airmen, which honors and tells the story of the Tuskegee Airmen, the U.S. Army Air Corps black fighter group in World War II.
• The Haven House Family Shelter has physically served more than 50 residents this year and more than 150 on an outreach basis.
• As part of International Credit Union Day, Mutual Credit Union celebrated with a “People Helping People” theme and ventured into the community paying for customer’s groceries.
• Classics in the Courtyard kicked off Friday with more than 130 people attending the 8th annual event, which is sponsored by the Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation.
