A  man is dead Wednesday night after a shooting in the 1400 block of Main Street in Vicksburg.

A shooting was reported at about 9:10 p.m. Wednesday night on Main Street. The victim was transported to Merit Health River Region by a privately owned vehicle and died while being treated in the emergency room, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.  The victim has not been identified, and no motive has been determined, Williams said.

No suspects have been identified or taken into custody, Williams said. Investigators are actively working the scene, and it is still early in the investigation, Williams said.
