A Vicksburg man died from a gunshot Wednesday night shortly after 9 p.m.
Reginald Davis, 21, died in the emergency room of Merit Health River Region Medical Center after being transported there by a private vehicle.
He was apparently shot while in the 1400 block of Main Street.
Vicksburg Police Capt. Sandra Williams of the department’s criminal investigation division said someone with a handgun shot Davis in the upper body.
Police would not release Davis’s specific address, but said he is of Vicksburg.
No arrests have been made in the incident. However, Vicksburg Police Chief Walter Armstrong said this morning his department is looking for a “person of interest.”
He said the investigation into the incident is ongoing and no motive would be released at this time.
“We want anyone with information to call the Vicksburg Police Department or Crime Stoppers,” he said.
Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to call Vicksburg Police at 601-636-2511 or Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers at 601-355-8477. Callers to Crime Stoppers remain anonymous and do not have to testify in court. Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of a felony suspect.
