A Warren County woman is being held without bail in the Warren County Jail accused of child neglect involving her failure to have her 3-year-old child treated for a sexually transmitted disease, Sheriff Martin Pace said.

He said Tasha  “Nortia” Ford, 30, 228 Whatley Road, was arrested on a warrant charging her with felony child neglect when she went to the Sheriff’s Office to talk with detectives Todd Dykes and Stacy Rollinson about the child.

Pace said the Mississippi Department of Human Services took custody of the child Thursday and discovered the treatable disease during a medical examination of the child at the Merit River Region Medical Center emergency room.

He said Ford never sought treatment for the child, adding the investigation into the case is continuing.
