Joan McCormack Trahan

TALLULAH, LA. — Joan McCormack Trahan passed away at the Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah, Louisiana, on Nov. 1, 2015.
She was born Sept. 5, 1932, in Vicksburg and was the daughter of Joseph Xavier and Rose Eleanor Douat McCormack.
She was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier High School, class of 1950. She was employed by Mercy Hospital until 1956 and later by The Collection Gift Shop.
She was a homemaker, caregiver and volunteer for many organizations, including an auxiliary volunteer at the River Region Hospital for many years. She was a founding member of St. Michael Parish and served on the Altar Society, the Bereavement Committee, Parish Council, and Building Committee for the existing church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; by her son, Stephen Trahan; by two sisters, Ann Barnes and Betty Brown; by four brothers, Joseph McCormack, John McCormack, Patrick McCormack and Charles McCormack
She is survived by her husband, Charles C. Trahan of Vicksburg; a sister, Catherine Goodrum of California; her sons, Charles Trahan Jr. (Kelly) of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, and Kenneth Trahan (Robin) of Fort Worth, Texas; her daughter, Lisa Gwin (Steve) of Vicksburg; grandsons, Hugh Trahan and Logan Parker; granddaughters, Mary Katherine Yentzen (Hunter) and Stephanie Blanchard (Shawn); and great-granddaughter, Anna Kate Yentzen.
Pallbearers will be her nephews and honorary pallbearers will be St. Francis Xavier class of 1950 and the hospital auxiliary volunteers. The family extends a special thanks to the staff and administration of the Olive Branch for their compassionate care.
Visitation is at Riles Funeral Home Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015, from 4 to 7 p.m. With a prayer service at 6:45.
A Funeral Mass will be at St. Michael Catholic Church Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015 at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Vicksburg Catholic School or St. Michael Catholic Church.
