A Vicksburg man lost his life Tuesday morning when he inadvertently came into contact with a live power line.
Warren County Deputy Coroner Ron Regan said John Wesley “Johnny” Purvis III, 61, of Boy Scout Road, Vicksburg, was cutting grass in the 800 block of Fort Hill Drive when he accidentally came into contact with an electric power line.
Vicksburg Police Department Capt. Sandra Williams said her department received a call reporting the accident at 9:15 a.m.
“We notified Entergy, who brought a supervisor and safety people on scene,” she said.
Regan said Purvis’ body is being autopsied by the medical examiner at the Mississippi State Crime Laboratory.
