Comebacks and upsets make sports wonderful

Saturday night was what sports is all about, as five Goliaths met their David and the little guy prevailed.
One week after running into a crimson wall, LSU couldn’t seem to catch their “tiger bait” and a lost a game they should’ve won. Heisman hopeful Leonard Fournette scored the Tigers’ second touchdown on a 2-yard run and finished with 91 yards on the night.
Despite his production, LSU only netted 59 rushing yards to Arkansas’ 299 and the Razorbacks gained 7 1/2 yards per carry to win 31-14.
Heading over to Waco, Texas, No. 12 Oklahoma crushed No. 4 Baylor’s dreams of going to the College Football Playoff. This was perhaps my favorite game of the night as it was essentially tied all the way down to the end.
OU quarterback Baker Mayfield did a wonderful job keeping his composure avoiding a sack late in the game and extending drives with his feet. Baylor had an opportunity to tie, but the Sooners’ defense was in the right place at the right time for an interception
While most people were going to bed around the time the Pac-12 ended its final two games, they missed a thriller.
Arizona took down No. 10 Utah in double overtime, and No. 18 UCLA was just four points short of beating Washington State. Arizona jumped to an early 17-7 lead in the first quarter, but tied it at the end of regulation. After both teams were successful on field goal attempts it was the Wildcats coming out victorious with a 25-yard TD pass.
Washington State claimed its upset with three seconds left in the game after Luke Falk completed a 21-yard touchdown pass to Gabe Marks.
The kick heard around the world made a grown man — me — shriek as Holly Holm’s foot connected on the jaw of Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 in Australia. Rousey was out of her element the entire fight. Holm is a boxer first, while Rousey is a ground-fighter. Following the fight, the entire Twitter-verse went into flames with funny memes and public figures voicing their pleasure in the UFC’s biggest star falling hard.
Nights like these are what man caves were built for. Watching intense games and fights while yelling back at the television with your favorite drink in hand is the epitome of fandom.
