Karry Callahan’s big night helped the Vicksburg Missy Gators keep their slump a brief one.

Callahan had a monster night with 26 points, 26 rebounds, five assists, five steals and three blocked shots to lead Vicksburg to a 63-34 romp over Yazoo City on Tuesday night.

Callahan finished with at least 10 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and five steals for the third consecutive game, but this was the first one in which she and the Missy Gators (2-2) have something to show for it. They’d lost the last two.

This time, they crept out to a nine-point lead at halftime and then outscored Yazoo City 40-20 in the second half to steadily turn the game into a blowout.

Keiyana Gaskin added 17 points, 10 rebounds and five steals for her first double-double of the season.

Vicksburg will return to action Thursday night, on the road at Pearl.

(B) Yazoo City 38, Vicksburg 36

The Vicksburg Gators lost their first game of the season Tuesday night, and potentially their best player in the process.

Yazoo City (2-0) sandwiched two free throws in between a pair of Vicksburg turnovers in the final minute to take the lead, then finished it off with another free throw after the second turnover.

Joe Thomas led Vicksburg (3-1) with 11 points, but the Gators’ leading scorer Kirk Parker suffered an elbow injury. It’s unclear how long Parker, a junior forward, will be out. He also suffered a dislocated elbow in August that ended his football season.

(B) Ridgeland 36, Warren Central 22

Warren Central’s early-season struggles continued Tuesday, as it fell to Ridgeland for its fifth consecutive loss. This was the first of the five to be by more than 10 points.

Travonta Miller led the Vikings with nine points, but no one else scored more than four.

In the girls’ game, Warren Central beat Ridgeland 45-36.
