Laura Lucille Lawler Ellis

Laura Lucille Lawler Ellis, 84, of Vicksburg, passed away peacefully on Nov. 17, 2015, surrounded by her only daughter, Barbara Ellis Hill, and the caring staff of Vicksburg Convalescent Home to the sound of “Amazing Grace.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elexander Lawler and Nellie May Swinney Lawler, and her husband, Ira Craig Ellis.
Born in Phil Campbell, Alabama, to a family of nine brothers and sisters, Mrs. Ellis resided in Vicksburg for the majority of her life. She is fondly remembered for her many years of service in the nursery at St. Paul Catholic Church.
In addition to her daughter, she is survived by son-in-law, Mike Hill; grandson, Dr. Benjamin Hill of Birmingham, Alabama, his wife Rosa Hill; and great-grandchildren, Anthony and Alexis Hill; granddaughter Kacey Hill of New Orleans and her husband Thomas Riley; sister, Evelyn Nix of Russellville, Alabama; and devoted nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church followed by Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Father Tom Lalor will officiate under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Benjamin Hill, Matthew Rowen, Brian Rowen, Craig Nix, Philip Jabour and Kaleel Jabour.
