Brenda Sumrall Nelson of Vicksburg died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015. She was 55.

Brenda was the daughter of Dan and Mildred Sumrall of Vicksburg.

Brenda was retired from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Engineer Research and Development Center. She was a devout member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and was a member of the choir.

Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her husband, Riley Wayne Nelson Sr. She is survived by her parents; two daughters, Amy Kittrell Brown (Brian) of Brandon and Brooke Kittrell Herrington (Hunter) of Pearl; one sister, Peggy Partridge (Scott) of Vicksburg; one brother, Danny Sumrall (Rena) of Vicksburg; one granddaughter, Bailey Elise Brown of Brandon and numerous nephews and one niece.

Funeral services will be held at noon Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Bryant officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brian Brown, Hunter Herrington, Russell Sumrall, Thomas Middleton, Matt Middleton and Justin Wooten. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Crist, Mike Sullivan, Robby Cook and Lee Miller.
