KOSCIUSKO — Nelvie Hamilton Winter, 80, passed away on Jan. 7, 2016, at Atwood Personal Care Home in Noxapater.

She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Josie Hamilton; her husband, Craton Winter; five brothers; and five sisters.

She is survived by one sister, Rosie Snelling of Richland; a sister-in-law Merle Hamilton of Lexington; 17 nieces and nephews; and caregivers, Trudy and David Gunter.

Nelvie was born Aug. 28, 1935, in Thomastown and moved to New Orleans at age 19, where she met and married her husband. After Hurricane Katrina they moved to Mississippi and had lived in Vicksburg since 2005 to be close to their special niece, Lynn Alford.

Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 11, from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m., with graveside service and interment at Jenkins Cemetery in McAdams at 2 p.m.
