Larry “Jake” Davis Meadows Sr. died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, at G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson. Mr. Meadows was 66.

He served in the United States Navy including a tour in Vietnam. He was a devoted member and deacon of Damascus Baptist Church where he had many friends including Richard Parker.

He was the son of the late Jim Meadows and Othe Thomas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Meadows and Bobby Meadows; and a sister, Nancy Richardson.

Survivors include his son, Larry D. Meadows Jr. of Sulther Springs, Texas; a daughter, Tammy M. Hanes of Baton Rouge, La.; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at Damascus Baptist Church, 1037 Damascus Road, Hazlehurst, MS, 39083. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg with the Rev. Randy Davis officiating.
