St. Aloysius High School boys and girls basketball coach Delvin Thompson did not coach Thursday night’s games against Riverfield Academy.

Rumors swirled among parents of players Thursday afternoon that Thompson had been removed from his position.

“That’s not true,” said Buddy Strickland, St. Al principal “I can tell you unequivocally, he has not been terminated.”

Thompson, who was reached for comment by telephone shortly before Thursday’s game, refused any comment on the record.

Strickland said he was aware of the speculation surrounding Thompson’s absence from Thursday’s games.

“I feel for him,” Strickland said. “However, all this talk that he’s been fired is just speculation. I can tell you that is not true. I will never comment on personnel decisions, but I will say unequivocally he has not been terminated.”
