Ronald “Ronny” Powers

Ronald “Ronny” Powers died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016. He was 56. Born in Belzoni, he was a resident of Vicksburg for the past 49 years. Ronny was a graduate of Warren Central High School. He retired as owner and operator of Mid South Clothing in 2008. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. Ronny was of the Baptist faith.

He leaves his wife, Mary Ainsworth Powers of Vicksburg; daughter, Cameron “Cammy” Powers of Cleveland; parents, James L. and Peggy Wright Powers of Vicksburg; and a twin brother, Donald “Donnie” Powers of Vicksburg.

He was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Chase Powers.

The family would like to thank Lena Ainsworth, his caregiver, for her love and dedication during his illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Charlie Harris, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, and the Rev. Ron Burch, former pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 1 p.m. until the service.

Pallbearers will be James (Bubba) Thompson, Sam Reeder, Clay Grafton, Adam Kirkland, Adam Powers and Josh Stewart.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Martin Newcomb, Dr. Steven Zachow, Dr. Thomas Sligh, Brannon Jones, Bob Atkins, Chris Grafton and Phil Barlow.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and to Trinity Baptist Church, 3365 Porters Chapel Road, Vicksburg, MS 39180.
