Virginia H. Hemby

Virginia H. Hemby died Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center. She was 92.
Virginia was the daughter of the late William Oscar and Mary Elsie Hazelbaker. She was a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital and Vicksburg Hospital and retired with over 42 years of dedicated service. She was a member of Crawford Street United Methodist Church.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 44 years, Winston Hemby; two brothers, W.O. Hazelbaker Jr. and John Anthony Hazelbaker; and one sister, Mary Hazelbaker Manning.
Survivors include four daughters, Susan Hemby Tate of Vicksburg, Mary Hemby Davis of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Rebecca Hemby Bell of Woodville, and Virginia Hemby Porter of Columbus; one sister, Jane Hazelbaker Brooks; one brother, George Frank Hazelbaker; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at Crawford Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cary Stockett officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be W. Garrett Bell, Brent W. Bell, Roger D. Porter Jr., W. Steven Gall, Dennis W. Davis, John J. Sheehan III, Joseph E. Minter and Robert Joseph Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Tate Averett, George Frank Hazelbaker and the senior class of Crawford Street United Methodist Church.
