Vikings pull away to beat Pearl

PEARL — Conner Wilkinson went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Warren Central scored six times in the fifth and sixth innings to beat Pearl 7-2 on Saturday.

Wilkinson’s two-run single in the fifth inning gave Warren Central (7-3) its first lead of the day, 3-2. He also had an RBI single during a four-run sixth inning that padded the lead.

Logan Stewart and Brooks Boolos each scored two runs for WC. Aaron Greene allowed one earned run in five innings to get the win, and Booth Buys pitched the last two innings for a save.

Greene and Buys combined to allow four hits and only one walk. Greene struck out six batters and Buys three.

Tylan Knight went 2-for-4 with two runs scored for Pearl, and Hunter Allen drove in both of the Pirates’ runs.

WC will host archrival Vicksburg on Monday. The junior varsity game will begin at 5 p.m. and the varsity at 7.

Vicksburg lost 14-1 to Terry on Saturday.
