CARLISLE — Catherine Griffith died Sunday, March 20, 2016, at her home. She was 72.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emanuel Shoulders and Hester Barnes-Evans; her husband, James Griffith Sr.; two brothers, Isaac Evans and Albert Ray Evans; three sisters, Coreen Damper, Bessie Amohr, and Emma Griffith.

Survivors include three daughters, Theresa Griffith and Debbie Lynn Griffith, both of Port Gibson, and Irene Griffith of Miami; three sons, James Griffith Jr., Michael Griffith and Roy Griffith, all of Miami; one brother, Templeton Evans of New Orleans; five sisters, Ruby Walker, Mamie Smith and Flora Jean Smith, all of Port Gibson, Ida Mae Banks of Hermanville and Nora Lee Sorrell of New Orleans; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 1p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016, at St. Luke Baptist Church in Carlisle with the Rev. Curtis Gainswell officiating. Burial will be at Old White Oak Cemetery in Carpenter under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home, and Saturday at the church from noon until the service.
