A couple of days after running into its archnemesis, Warren Central took out its frustration in a big way.

Warren Central batted around twice without getting an out in the first inning, and routed Murrah 22-0 Thursday at Lucy Young Field.

The Lady Vikes (7-6, 3-1 Division 4-6A) beat Murrah for the second time this season, and outscored the Lady Mustangs 37-0 in the two games. It was a big shift from Tuesday’s loss to Clinton, which WC has not beaten in six years.

Warren Central did not bat in the second or third innings Thursday, instead opting to let Murrah bat twice in a row to speed the game along.

Morgan Stewart and Cocoa Fultz each went 2-for-2 with a double, RBI and two runs scored before coach Dana McGivney made wholesale substitutions on the third trip through the order in the bottom of the first inning.

Brooke Patterson homered, Claire Tillman doubled and drove in two runs, and Kaitlyn Mitchell had two RBIs and scored twice.

Kasy Cortezie pitched all three innings. She allowed two hits and no walks, and struck out eight.

Warren Central will play at Terry Friday at 6:15 p.m.

Vicksburg 5, Cleveland 1

Myah’ Wright hit a tiebreaking two-run double in the top of the seventh inning, and Vicksburg High rallied for five runs in the frame to beat Cleveland.

Gracie Emerson had an RBI single to tie the game.

Wright finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Missy Gators (5-10). Olivia Oakes pitched seven innings and allowed one unearned run on four hits. She walked four and struck out five.

The Missy Gators struggled offensively for most of the game, but turned it around in time to snap a three-game losing streak. After striking out 11 times in the first six innings, they got five of their seven hits during the big seventh-inning rally that gave them the lead for good.

Kelsey Lockridge started things off with a leadoff single, and another base hit by Hannah Emerson and an error loaded the bases.

Gracie Emerson followed with a two-out single to center field to tie the game at 1.

Wright’s double brought in Jada Sims and Sara Daniels with the go-ahead runs, and the Missy Gators added two more when Jazmin Green reached on an error.

Vicksburg will return to action Saturday with three games at the Richland tournament. They’ll play tournament host Richland at 12:30 p.m., Germantown at 3:30 and Ridgeland at 5 p.m.
