Work to close westbound lane on I-20 bridge

The outside westbound lane of the Interstate 20 bridge will be closed for most of the week beginning Tuesday while workers with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development do maintenance work on the bridge, deputy Vicksburg police chief Bobby Stewart said.

The work is expected close the lane Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

LDOTD crews will be working on the bridge decking and guardrails while the lane is closed. Stewart said the inside east and westbound lanes are expected to be closed Saturday and Sunday for similar work.

Vicksburg police will be on the bridge to help with traffic during the work under an agreement between LDOTD and the city of Vicksburg.

Louisiana will reimburse the city for using the officers under an agreement with the city.
