WC has good showing at division track meet

PEARL — Warren Central’s boys’ track team had a good showing at the Division 4-6A meet on Tuesday, netting four first-place finishes while sending athletes on to the regional round of the MHSAA postseason in 13 events.

The sprint relay team of Corey Wilson Jr., Tybias Williams, Maliek Berry and Josh Wilson won the 4×200 meters and finished second in the 4×100.

Other winners were Caleb Watts (shot put), Trey Smith (high jump) and Raylon Sayles (110-meter hurdles).

Sayles was second in the 300 hurdles, Smith second in the pole vault, and Wilson second in the 200 meters.

Third-place finishers were Garrett Melton in pole vault, Raymond Rimmey in triple jump, Keenan Jones in shot put and discus, Berry in the 100 and 200 meters, and Max Wamsley in the 1,600 meters.

On the girls’ side, distance runner K.K. McCarley advanced to the regional meet in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 meters. She won all three events.

The regional meet is scheduled for April 23 at Madison Central.
